Ackert Park
City of University City, MO

Ackert Park is a 1 acre pocket park located within the Historic Parkview Gardens neighborhood in University City, MO. The park is bisected by the Historic Ackert Walkway which was once part of the Ferguson Streetcar Right of Way and is planned for future improvements as part of the Centennial Greenway. An existing plaza, a former water feature (now landscape planter) and canopy structure remain today as part of a station stop.

Gateway Design Studio provided a full Master Plan and needs assessment of the park. Having evaluated the existing conditions, we recommended improvements such as the preservation of historic landmarks and natural park resources, pavement replacement, pedestrian circulation, seating areas, a themed playground, art murals and sculptures. In addition, GDS provided subsequent preliminary and final plans for construction, bid administration and construction observation services.

The park improvements were completed in September, 2022.
