Ackert Park
City of University City, MO

Ackert Park is a 1 acre pocket park located within the Historic Parkview Gardens neighborhood in University City, MO which required a conceptual design of the park for future planned improvements to the site. The park is bisected by the Historic Ackert Walkway which was once part of the Ferguson Streetcar Right of Way and is planned for future improvements as part of the Centennial Greenway. An existing plaza, a former water feature (now landscape planter) and canopy structure remain today as part of a station stop.

Gateway Design Studio provided a full conceptual Master Plan and needs assessment of the park evaluating the existing conditions and providing Master Plan recommendations through evaluation of potential park improvements related to such factors as the preservation of historic built and natural park resources, pavement replacement, pedestrian circulation, seating areas, a themed playground, art murals and sculptures.
