BRDG - Danforth Center
St. Louis, MO

Gateway Design Studio provided landscape architectural design services for this LEED certified project located in Creve Coeur, Missouri, a municipality within St. Louis County. The project features a proposed bio research facility with extensive landscape treatments around the building and parking lot area, complimenting the contemporary modernistic style of the existing campus. A special aspect of the design is the integration of native plants as part of the required water quality detention basins. A main feature of the site is a “natural park-like” setting which offers crushed stone walking paths and benches for visitors and tenants to enjoy. This important amenity was designed to display the “plant science” mission of the Danforth Center.

Extensive research was conducted in specifying perennial flowers, native grasses and forbs which will aid in the filtration and remediation of the storm water discharge. GDS also provided hardscape plaza design for the main entrance and north patio area of the building. The paving design compliments the rectilinear design of the building architecture. CLICK ON THE IMAGES BELOW FOR DESCRIPTIONS.
